Lilith strides purposefully down whatever path the others have made between the Lake and the derelict watchtower, her heels sinking softly into the ground. These were not the shoes for world travel, but she also wasn't exactly asked before this little swim. She looks young, perhaps eighteen or twenty, with a lovely face and a shirt, skirt and sleek leggings all in shades of black and purple. All of those are sopping wet, as is her dark brown hair, which is in a ponytail that lays against her neck. Wings that look like they belong on a dragonfly buzz from her back, but they are black rather than iridescent. She is also carrying a pair of light axes. She yanks her leg up, and the shoe stays in the ground. "Well this is fucking annoying.."
Spizzzo is stoking the fire below a simmering stew pot, but looks back and over his shoulder at the squelching approach of a new friend in the mud. "Hello! Please, come warm yourself by the fire!" He coughs quietly as he gets a mouthful of smoke from the green wood. The half-elf climbs to his feet and clears his jacket off a log to give Lilith a place to sit, gesturing broadly while also backing away, to give her space. "From the muttering and the wet clothes, I assume you are a new arrival to our little family? I am Spizzzo Spizzzoson, allow me to welcome you to Grinwych. Well, we're outside of Grimwych proper at the moment."
Lilith crouches down and eventually pulls her shoe out of the ground, then slides it back onto her foot like she's Cinderella being discovered, except she's sliding it on her own food, no prince in sight. She looks up at the sound of someone's voice and watches Spizzzo for a cautionary few seconds before donning her most winning smile. "Hi. Thanks." She rights her posture and approaches casually. "Was your father also Spizzzo Spizzoson?" she asks lightly. Despite her clothing and once-very pretty makeup, she looks undisturbed to sit on a log in the middle of the woods. "I'm Lilith. New friend." She extends her hand, not having forgotten her manners. "A pleasure."
Spizzzo smiles and bows, then reaches out to clasp hands briefly. "I can only speculate, my first memory is waking up in the lake a few days ago. A pleasure, Lilith. Well. Most people don't seem excited to be here, but we have fire, warmth, some shelter." He reaches over and stirs the stew pot. "Rat stew?"
Lilith drops her hand and bows back to Spizzzo instead. "I've seen worse." She looks around, eyes lingering on the watchtower behind Spizzo. "Nobody home, huh?" She sits straight, with perfect posture. "Sure." She lowers her handbag to her lap and starts rummaging through it. "I....don't think I brought any dishes..." More rummaging.
Spizzzo spoons a hearty spoonful of stew into his new spoon, then offers the long handle toward Lilith. "We've started showing up more or less a week ago. One by one, came out of the lake. Abandoned watchtower, abandoned town."
Lilith accepts the handle of the spoon. She takes a cautious sip, makes a face, and then another one. "Not exactly gourmet, but it's not starving." She offers the handle back to Spizzzo. "A for effort."
Spizzzo nods happily, "Help yourself. Dry off by the fire. I found some wild herbs." He dips his head, covering up his sigh and drawing in a deep breath, bringing back a smile, and looking back up to Lilith. "I don't know what happens next. I don't know why we're here, or how many of us will show up. But I can do this."
Lilith shuts the bag, which has many practical things, but not dishes. There are probably a couple more axes inside though, just in case. A moment later, she is ringing the water from her ponytail. "Hmmm. Well what comes next is probably setting up camp or some semi safe structure to stay in while we assess our surroundings. See who's here. Set up some traps for wild game. Stuff like that. Water draws animals."
Spizzzo nods, changing his focus to the village at the end of the trail north of the lake. "You should take a look at the village. There's a few others of us out here, a tavern, some other empty buildings. Everyone seems to be a team player so far, but some are more upset than others. Myself and Morgane seem to have the least memory. She arrived just before you, this morning."
Lilith holds out her hand, and a raven-sized bird made of shadow energy forms there. "You heard the guy. Scout it out. Show me anything useful." The shadow creature seems to understand what she means by that and takes to the sky. "Have you come across anything threatening yet? Monsters? Large predators?"
Spizzzo nods solemnly and looks to the far north, across the lake, near where the train line comes to an end. "A mighty foe. A raccoon, claiming tenancy on a farmhouse. Fighting off all challengers." He does not, at this point, mention the incident with Hela and the tree, and hopefully never will.
Lilith nods quietly. "Is it a raccoon sized raccoon or one of those weird ones that's as large as I am?" Now that she is sitting, she removes both of her shoes and assesses their condition with a frown. " my mom is going to be so pissed that I borrowed her shoes and wound up in another dimension."
Spizzzo gestures to the lake, "You could try throwing the shoes back in." He shrugs, clearly unsure if that's a good idea or not. "Regular size racoon."
Lilith studies the shoes. "I'll probably have to scavenge some other ones. I'm not walking around here barefoot. There's bound to be a way to clean them." That might be wishful thinking. " How do you feel about raccoon stew, friend?"
Spizzzo nods and gestures to the pot, "I couldn't defeat him, but if you can I'll add him to the stew."
Lilith grins brightly. "I'll see what I can do. Which way is the farmhouse?"
Spizzzo points with his spoon, tracking the road into town, then back over toward the train station. "Head into town, the tavern will be on your left. Right on Wayfarer Lane will take you to the train station. A train is a type of dragon, but it's dead. Before the station, there's a turn off on your right again. Eventually leads to an old farmhouse where the raccoon reigns supreme."
Lilith has never heard of a train before, but the mention of a dragon has her interest. "If there's a dragon, there's a dragon's hoard." She rises gracefully, wings fluttering gently with her motion. "Thanks, Spizzzo. You're a real pal. I'll get right on it."
Spizzzo watches Lilith lift off, waving after her and accepting her flight as fact. After all, she had wings so why shouldn't she fly?
Lilith buzzes into the air like a dragonfly, and then sort of fades into a silhouette and zooms off. Bzzzz
